Traps

acrylic on plastic

The narrow windows of the gallery's ground floor gave me no rest: something had to be done with them. On the one hand I felt the need to retain the openings and the source of light, but on the other, there was the drive to block them. Moreover, the narrow leads me to the yet narrower, so it became clear that I was going to work with a lath, which could be just about jammed in the window and serve as a support for a plastic sheet and acrylic. The stretched plastic sheet: a track for the spatula; the removed and hanging plastic in the window: a track for the light. Tow and pull. It was a trap to think, that the exchange between the hard lath and the soft plastic, between looking through the window and on the surface of the plaster may ever end.
